I started the Tone It Up Bikini Series Monday, May 16th. It’s 8 weeks long. I have always wanted to try it, and with not doing an Ironman this year, and not having anything else on the race schedule currently (although there will be, possibly Santa Cruz 70.3….) it was the perfect time to try it out. I love trying things and seeing how my body responds and getting fitness inspiration, and well these girls are awesome. You can read about my trial week before committing to the series here. I loved it, and got excited to do the whole 8 weeks! I indulged a bit on Topher’s and my camping trip in Zion, and post race St. George 70.3, that I knew it would also be the perfect time to lose some extra weight before bikini season! And now that I live in San Diego, bikinis definitely are a part of every weekend, even if I don’t make it down to the beach. 😛
What I want to highlight about Week 1 is they make each meal super simple. My biggest complaint when following meal plans or recipes is there’s TOO MANY ingredients. In my opinion, there should never be more than 7 or 8 otherwise it gets complicated, and always include a couple that people most likely already have in their pantry. Otherwise it gets expensive and overwhelming. I had a lot of fun making all of these pretty meals. I’m not a “chef”, but I do enjoy cooking. Especially, as I get older, I like it even more, as it is a bit meditative, and relaxes my brain from thinking about so many other things, just like triathlon does.
Top 5 Things I Liked About Week 1:
Bombshell Blueberry Smoothie – I love smoothies and it’s a great way to continue to use my Designer Protein Powder. 🙂
The Community – It’s fun seeing how many other girls are doing the bikini series and have or are having success with it. Those times where I’m tempting to cheat, I think about how many other girls are doing it, so I can do it too. WILLPOWER!
Feeling Sore Again – I haven’t been doing strength very much, and it’s always nice feeling sore again, especially in my “weak” areas or in places I haven’t felt sore in a long time, like my triceps.
The Recipes – In general, the recipes were really tasty and super simple. I like how you can really meal prep and get everything organized for the week so that all your meals are really fast, so you can save time vs. trying to cook everything all the time.
Dessert! – I couldn’t do a meal plan that didn’t allow me to have dessert, and relatively frequently. I like how TIU has it so that you can have dessert 2-3x per week, but you just make a skinny version. It’s still just as refreshing and satisfying. I just have to feed my sweet tooth.
Super vulnerable sharing these, but what’s the point of showing what my success is of the Bikini Series if I don’t show where I started. These are 100% unedited.
Here we go!!!!
