I was in dire need of a beach getaway, so thank goodness this was on the schedule. 🙂 I have been to Mexico a number of times, seeing as it’s one of my dad’s favorite places on earth (in fact, I’m pretty sure he has ever single country song written about Mexico on his iPod), but I had never been to La Paz. Although, we didn’t just go to La Paz. We drove an hour outside of La Paz, along the coast, to get to the beautiful Bahía de Sueños (Bay of Dreams) where Topher and I stayed at the Gran Sueño. It is a beautiful private resort with many villas where couples, friends, and/or families can stay. It is very secluded. My favorite kind of getaway. Topher and I were there to shoot a wedding, but we found some time to play, as well. As soon as we arrived, our hearts melted and we were in la la land. Not only that, but we thought…dang this is the perfect place for a triathlon training camp! I will touch on the triathlon part later…

It is 40,000 square feet of property and has over 30+ acres of beautiful desert. There are a total of 16 bedrooms. You can rent out the entire property for $6500 a night, or get your own private villa for $200 per night. There’s a cool outdoor restaurant bar called “The Train Room”, where everyone congregates for meals and hanging out. There are pool tables and other bar games, too. The staff is very friendly, which made for a nice visit. The one thing to be mindful of is this is a true getaway. The wifi is barely functional, so put away those smart phones and laptops and enjoy each other’s company. 🙂

What to bring? Not much! Just your happy shiny self 🙂

Pretty much just bring your swimsuit (or a few ;)) I rocked out in two of my new fave bikinis from Jets Swimwear (an Australian brand that’s crushing it).

And I’m not gonna complain when I get to walk around with views like this….

So, why would this be the perfect triathlon training camp location?

  • the bay from one point to the other is 1 mile – there and back 2 miles! Perfect for open water swimming
  • The golf course is abandoned (because the water was too expensive to bring in to keep it green), but that means there are TONS of trails to be run.
  • And once you head out to the main road there’s roads for miles for riding!
  • There’s a Sam’s Club in town where snacks and food can be stocked up on

Who’s in?! 😛 Topher and I are dreaming of getting back there!!!

A few more photos because it was just that damn gorgeous and well Topher is a photography genius. 🙂
