Oakley Women Fitness Retreat in Napa Valley Days 1&2

Where do I begin?  This weekend was the most AMAZING experience.  I was surrounded by the most motivating and inspiring women in the fitness industry, from the other 9 girls who have been chosen to be ambassadors, to editors of Shape, Self, Women’s Health, Fitness, W, InStyle, and more, to Oakley employees, professional athletes, Gretchen Bleiler and Jenny Fletcher, and Karena and Katrina from Tone It Up!  It was a weekend full of ambitious and powerful ladies that want to make a difference in the world.  To be surrounded by like-minded individuals was the best feeling.  Everyone was supportive of each other’s endeavors, and there was no such thing as “can’t”, in fact, it was more so the attitude of “If you can dream it, you can do it”.

I left early Friday morning, as in 5:45am to get to O’hare to catch my flight to California.  I had a stop in Salt Lake City, with a short layover, and then flew into Oakland. I had a bagel sandwich at the American Bagel Company, I couldn’t believe they had fresh bagels and veggies and meat.  Nothing was pre-made, which was just what I was looking for!

After settling in to my room (p.s we all had our own rooms!), I met Brittany (one of the ambassadors), and Marni (another ambassador) at the pool.  Then it was time to go back, and get ready for a little meet and great with some of the Oakley employees and all the other ambassador girls.  I was so excited to meet all the other ladies, since we had already connected on facebook, it was fun to finally see everyone in person!

Thank you Erica for the awesome CD, which turned out to be the fashion show music!  Now, that it’s on my ipod, everytime I hear any of the songs it immediately inspires and motivates me.

It was then time for dinner and a fashion show of the Spring 2012 line!  And boy does it look awesome!  We then were invited to try on some of the sunglasses Oakley has made specifically for women.

Then it was time to call it a night, we had a 5K to run in the morning! Here is one of the outfits we received for the weekend!  And thank you Asics for the hot pink shoes!

We went to Trefethen for the 5K, but before the 5K, we did a dynamic flexibility warm up, a run form evaluation by Andrew Kastor (yes, Deena Kastor’s husband), and then we went through the Oakley Rolling O lab, to see the tests that Oakley puts their eyewear through, and boy is it intense, from a metal ball they send going over 100mph into the sunglasses from a foot away, to dropping a metal pointed object 4 feet straight into the lens.  After going through the Rolling O lab, is when we were given the prototype sunglasses, Drizzle, that will be coming out later this year.  These are the sunglasses you will see me and the other girls wearing throughout the rest of the weekend!

5K through the Vineyard!

I ended up getting 3rd, Jenny Fletcher got 1st, and a woman from Women’s Health got 2nd.  I finished in about 22:23. (not my fastest 5K, but we didn’t really warm up, and there were a lot of twists and turns, so I was happy with my performance)

All the girls did amazing!  And of course we had to top it off with some vino!

It was then time to head back to the Silverado Resort, where we were staying, and have some lunch before our bike tour of 3 different wineries.

And then we finished the day with dinner at the winery Paraduxx!

We ate family style, there were two big salads, one green, one pasta, and 4 different kinds of pizza!  It was delicious!
