I will never forget the Christmas I asked for a pair of running shoes. I was 12 years old, and I wanted them so that I could work on my fitness outside of soccer practice. I always LOVED the fitness part of soccer. In fact, looking back, I wasn’t all that good at actually playing soccer, I was just really good at running up and down the field as fast as I could.
When I was in high school, I loved putting in the extra effort to wake up a couple days a week to go for a 2 mile run before school. My friend, Kat, and I would jog to meet up to go for a run, we lived about 1/2 mile from each other, so we would warm up on our way to meet each other and then head out. There were no watches, no “mapmyruns”, and no ipods. Just us, our breathing, and pushing each other to be better. I continued to run a couple times a week before school, all through high school, except in the winter. I remember a group called “RAW” – Run All Winter, they even had a pic in the yearbook, I always thought they were crazy and never thought I could do that, yet a small part of me deep down inside, thought they were so hard core, and cool. I wanted to prove to myself that I was tough, tough enough to run in the winter.
Well, going back to that Christmas, when I asked for running shoes, my mom picked out a pair of Saucony’s. I was SO excited. I instantly became obsessed with Saucony, and immediately thought that this was the only shoe for me, ever! I proceeded to buy Saucony originals, as my casual shoes, that I would wear with jean skirts, and dresses, I would leave the laces undone because that was the “cool” thing to do. Saucony was my first running shoe that set me on my fitness path.
After playing soccer in college, and then got into running marathons, and the Saucony Triumph series became my go-to shoe for training and racing. But, this past Christmas, a pair of Saucony Kinvara’s hid under the Christmas tree, just waiting for me to open them.
As per usual, when it comes to me and Saucony shoes, when I fall in love, I can’t just have one pair. So, I followed up with:
I wish I could have every color of this shoe! It’s amazing. You can check out my review on it here.
So my first dream sponsor would be SAUCONY! I love the race kits they have made for Linsey Corbin, Kate Major, and more. I dream of living in Saucony compression wear after every training session. And I dream of having a closet full of Saucony shoes. I would love to run down the shoot of races and be all decked out in Saucony! I would love to write product reviews for them, use my social media outlets, i.e facebook and twitter to promote them, and overall just be a supportive ambassador of their brand!
Stay tuned for Dream Sponsor #2!
